Measurements of Thermophysical Properties at High Temperatures Using a Feedback-Controlled Pulse-Heating Technique

چکیده

A new measurement technique for specific heat capacity and hemispherical total emissivity of electrical conductors at high temperatures using feedback-controlled pulse heating has been developed. In this technique, a strip sample is heated rapidly in vacuum by passing a high current up to a preset temperature, and maintained at that temperature for approximately 500 ms. A computer-controlled feedback system with a solid-state switch was employed to maintain the constant temperature. The sample temperature was measured with a high-speed radiation thermometer. In order to decide the true temperature, the normal spectral emissivity of the sample was measured with a high-speed laser-ellipsometer. Preliminary experiments were conducted on tantalum and molybdenum in the temperature range 1600 to 2800 K.
